Mount Royal Choral Association (MRCA)
Term: 2 years + summer

About the Role
The Mount Royal Choral Association is seeking a detail‑oriented and reliable volunteer to serve as Treasurer. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the financial health, transparency, and integrity of the Association. The Treasurer works closely with the Board and the General Manager to oversee financial operations and reporting in accordance with sound business practices and Board direction.
Key Responsibilities
The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the Association, including:
- Ensuring that accounts, contracts, agreements, and financial dealings of the Association are carried out according to sound business practices
- Receiving and distributing the funds of the Association in accordance with direction from the Board
- Maintaining bank, trust, and investment dealer accounts, with access to funds requiring the signatures of at least two Officers of the Association
- Maintaining the books of account for the Association, with the assistance of the General Manager
- Preparing and presenting financial statements and year‑end financial reports, with the assistance of the General Manager
- Preparing or coordinating the preparation of the Association’s annual audited financial statements and presenting them to the Board when requested
- Attending monthly Board meetings and actively participating in the governance and operation of the Mount Royal Choral Association
- Providing financial advice where required and assisting with sub‑committees, such as fundraising, planning, and special projects
Time Commitment

Monthly Board meetings (90 minutes online, the third Monday of each calendar month)

Additional time for financial reporting, year‑end activities, and committee support as required

Financial, accounting, or bookkeeping experience is an asset but not required. Support from the Board and General Manager is available to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
